Killer Bee Honey Caramel

There’s nothing quite as satisfying as a rich, creamy caramel sauce to go over a favorite dessert. When you add in some spices, that takes it to a whole new level! That was the idea behind this honey caramel recipe. Cinnamon gives this rich sauce a familiar warmth, while the little bit of cayenne provides a kick of heat that will keep you coming back for more!

When you’re making this recipe, make sure you whisk the caramel as hard as you can after you pour in the cream and the spices. That will give you the rich, luscious texture that you really want from a sauce like this. I whisk mine for a minimum of 5 minutes, but take as much time as you need to get the consistency that you want.

Whether you’re putting this in your coffee, over ice cream, or just on a spoon (hey, no judgement here 😉), you’re going to love this spicy spin on a sweet classic!

Killer Bee Honey Caramel

1/2 cup honey

1/4 cup butter

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp cayenne pepper, or to taste

1/4 tsp salt

Combine the honey and butter in a saucepan over medium heat; bring to a simmer, and cook for about 12-15 minutes, until the mixture slightly thickens and turns a deeper golden brown. Remove from the heat, then add in the heavy cream, cinnamon, cayenne, and salt. Vigorously whisk together for at least 5 minutes, until the caramel develops a thick, creamy consistency. Serve immediately as a warm topping for dessert, or keep refrigerated for up to 5 days.

Makes about 1 1/2 cups of sauce.
